Understand what is limiting you—and what may help you get more of your day back.
Back pain should not be running your day.
When your back changes how you sit, stand, sleep, lift or work, it deserves more than another round of guessing. Start by understanding what may be driving the strain—and what can help you move forward.
The problem is not just pain. It is everything pain interrupts.
Move through a typical day and notice where the pattern shows up. These details help turn “my back hurts” into a more useful clinical story.
Stiffness, difficulty getting out of bed or discomfort after sleep.
Why this matters: Back pain has many possible contributors. The pattern helps guide assessment; it does not diagnose the cause by itself.

Consultation, examination and posture scans.
Symptoms that deserve a closer look.
The same condition can feel different from person to person. The pattern, timing, triggers and effect on daily life all matter.
Look beyond the sore spot. Understand the pattern.
Symptoms often reflect a combination of movement, load, tissue irritation, compensation and health history.
Joint restriction and irritation
Spinal joints can become stiff, sensitive or overloaded.
Muscle and ligament strain
Sudden effort or repeated load can strain supporting tissues.
Disc-related irritation
Discs may contribute to local or radiating symptoms.
Posture and daily load
Sitting, lifting, work and deconditioning can keep the pattern active.
Compensation
When one area moves less, another area often works harder.
Past injury
Old strains or accidents can continue shaping how the body moves.
A better back-pain plan starts with the full picture.
Dr. Eric Kelly looks at your history, movement, posture, spinal function and the demands of daily life. Digital posture scans can support the wider evaluation. The goal is to understand what is contributing, explain the findings clearly, and recommend care that fits the person—not just the painful spot.
Know when this needs urgent medical care.
Chiropractic pages should never hide the signals that require a different level of care. Seek urgent assessment for:
- numbness or tingling around the genitals or buttocks
- difficulty urinating or loss of bladder or bowel control
- fever, unexplained weight loss or a visible spinal deformity
- severe pain after a serious accident
- rapidly worsening weakness or numbness
It is easy to get started.
A focused process that moves from uncertainty to a clear recommendation.

Can chiropractic care help back pain?
Chiropractic care is one non-drug option used for some types of back pain. The right approach depends on the cause, your health history and the findings from a proper examination.
What happens at the first visit?
Your €39 New Patient Experience includes consultation, examination, digital posture scans, a doctor’s report and a personalised corrective plan.
Do you take X-rays?
Glanmire Chiropractic Clinic does not use routine X-rays. Digital posture scans support the wider assessment and Dr. Kelly will discuss whether any outside imaging or referral is appropriate.
How do I know whether the pain is muscular, joint-related or nerve-related?
Symptoms can overlap. The examination looks at movement, loading, spinal function, tension and any radiating or neurological signs to help clarify the pattern.
Should I rest when my back hurts?
Long periods of bed rest are generally not helpful for ordinary back pain. Activity may need to be modified, but the safest approach depends on your symptoms and medical history.
Can back pain cause leg pain or tingling?
Yes. Irritation involving the lower back can sometimes produce symptoms into the buttock or leg. That pattern deserves careful assessment.
How many visits will I need?
There is no honest universal number. Dr. Kelly explains the findings and recommendations after the assessment, based on your condition, goals and response.
When is back pain an emergency?
Seek urgent medical care for bowel or bladder changes, numbness around the saddle area, severe weakness, fever, unexplained weight loss or pain after a serious accident.
Get checked. Get clear. Know your next move.
